The Pink Girl’s Room was designed for an eight-year-old schoolgirl. It combines functionality with fun, creating a cosy space for sleep, study, and play.
In this project, the focus was on balance. She needed a clear sleeping zone, plenty of storage for clothes and school supplies, and room for her hobbies — from roller skates to hockey sticks.
Finally, a small hangout corner ties everything together, giving her a space to relax and just be herself.
Pink Girl’s Room Design: The Concept and Vision
Crafting a Personalised Space
When designing this girl’s room, I wanted to create a space that truly reflects her personality. At the same time, it had to meet her everyday needs.
To achieve that balance, the concept focused on a colour palette of dark red, muted pink, and soft peach. Together, these shades bring both warmth and a gentle vibrancy to the room.
For the decor, the main highlights are two bespoke wall art pieces from the Ladybird Lola BFF series by Design Home Space — “Oh Hey” and “Lola BFF Zzzzzz.” These artworks act as the room’s focal points, adding charm, character, and a playful sense of identity.
Creating the Perfect Pink Girl’s Room Design
Interior Design for Kids: Smart Solutions for a Functional Room
Storage Solutions That Work
In any kid’s room design, storage is key. For this project, I implemented smart storage solutions that keep the room tidy while maximising space. The seating area in the hangout space doubles as storage for toys, books, and sports equipment. An open-shelf standing cabinet near the entrance serves as both a storage unit and a divider, creating a distinct separation between the sleeping area and the rest of the room. Two spacious wardrobes provide ample room for clothing, bedsheets, and shoes.

School Kids’ Room Space Design: Functional and Stylish
To cater to her academic needs, I included a dedicated desk area for schoolwork. The desk is strategically placed to ensure good lighting and a quiet environment, allowing her to focus on her studies. The combination of functionality and style makes this space ideal for a growing school kid.
Fun Design for Kids: The Ultimate Hangout Space
A Place to Relax and Play
The hangout space in this girl’s room is designed for relaxation and fun. Upholstered seating in durable yet soft fabric creates a cozy nook where she can read, relax, or hang out with friends. The seating area also offers hidden storage beneath the cushions, perfect for storing toys and books.

Lighting and Decor for a Cozy Atmosphere
For added comfort, I installed wall spotlights that are perfect for reading in the evening. Above the seating area, I added a hidden handy shelf, providing easy access to books or other small items. The room’s decor is enhanced with playful pom pom decorations, adding softness and a touch of whimsy.
Stylish Wall Decorations
To further personalise the space, I mounted a slogan decoration on the wall. This could also be customised as a neon light, offering a modern and fun alternative to traditional wall art.
Final Touches: Cosy Fabrics and Playful Accents
Enhancing Comfort and Coziness
The room’s comfort level is elevated by the use of soft, cozy fabrics. The upholstered seating area and the sleeping zone share the same fabric, creating a seamless flow throughout the room. A two-colored carpet adds a stylish yet comfortable touch underfoot, while pom pom decorations introduce a playful element that complements the room’s overall design.
